Ruth says:
I have hand sawn the 3 x 1.2cm hare from .4 mm silver sheet, then set on the 2.5cm moon dance hare (.5mm silver sheet). The background is oxidised to show the night sky, the hare is lightly polished. The pendant hangs from a silver 18″rounded box chain.
Ruth Makes Jewellery is, in fact, a partnership begun by me, Ruth Sutcliffe, and subsequently joined on a part time basis by my partner Jeremy Coates. We create our unique jewellery in the hills of West Yorkshire.
Our handmade sterling silver jewellery captures moments of pleasure which tell a story, be it the rare sighting of a hare, a majestic tree spotted on our travels, birds in the garden or crazy antics of our own animals.
Using photos or drawings as templates, we carve our pieces of jewellery from sterling silver sheet, sometimes adding in copper, brass or gemstone features. Our jewellery is either polished to a rich lustre, or oxidised to create extra atmosphere. All the findings we use are sterling silver so customers can be confident our jewellery is safe to wear.
Where appropriate our jewellery is hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office with our sponsor marks RS and JC.
We feel passionate about our jewellery, and thank you very much for your interest.
